Speaking Part 2 - Topic People

A person I admire is my mother because she is a fighter. You may ask why? To start, my mom got pregnant with me at the age of 18 and she did not have the support of my grandparents. Her own parents wanted to kick her out of the house when they found out. She convinced them to let her stay, but she could not ask them for any help when raising the baby. Knowing all this my mom still decided to have the baby, and that baby is me. How could I not adore her with my every breath!

Besides not having the support of her parents, she did not receive any help from my father either. Although my father cared about me, he never gave my mom money or clothes to help her maintain me as a baby. She had to provide for me on her own. Going to school and working was killing her, but she wanted me to have a good life, so she did anything that she could. My mom got pregnant again two years later, with the same man. The only difference was this time, it was worse! He abandoned her completely and her dad was sick. Now, not only did she have to provide for her two babies, but also for her parents. She was overwhelmed by everything happening; she didn't know what to do.

Finally, she decided to attend a college and become a teacher to support the family. It was not an easy thing to do. After she finished college, it took her some time to find a job. It is not easy to find a job in Nicaragua. However, my mom never quit, no matter how hard things get for her she fought through it. To provide for her offspring and parents. I see her every single day and I wish to be with her for the rest of my life. I have never seen anyone so determined and caring and she deserved to be admired and loved.

Speaking Part 3 - Chủ đề People

1. What qualities people, in general, admired among others?

Well, a few qualities are considered preferable by others and people admire those qualities. Honesty is the best of them. Nobody likes a dishonest person. Besides, people also seek humbleness, generosity and good manners. People do not like people who show off. Confidence is another virtue that people admire. In fact, confident people are able to achieve success more quickly than others. People also love gratitude and this is really an admirable quality, in my opinion. Effective communication skill is a very special virtue that people seek in others. Furthermore, people also admire committed persons.

2. Why it is important for parents to set examples for their children?

Parents are considered the best teachers for children. In fact, family is an institution where the parents play the roles of instructors. Moreover, children love to imitate them. So, it is the responsibility of parents to set good examples for their children and become their role models. If they can set some good examples, children will follow them and become good people in life. But if the parents set some bad examples, those may have some detrimental impacts on their children. Therefore, it is really important for parents to set good examples for their children to help them become good people.

3. How much you admire honesty among friends? Why?

I believe that you should always be able to tell your friends the truth. And if it turns out that they cannot handle the truth, then you probably weren’t true friends in the first place, right? On the other hand, we all want to be happy and sometimes hearing the truth might make us sad. After all, how happy would we be if everyone around us, including our friends, would constantly share their negative, but true, conceptions of us? Nonetheless, we must grow up and dare to face the storm of well-intended criticism. Because you will never be able to improve if you don’t know what you’re doing wrong.

4. Why do we like some people over others?

Based on the qualities others have, we like some people over others. We have various types of people with different qualities. But we prefer those who have some positive qualities and try to avoid those who have negative characteristics, dominating mentality and rude behaviours. Therefore, we get attached to those who are humble, talented, amiable and admire them for their outstanding qualities. I also believe that we want to hang out with people who are similar to us and possess the interests we have. This can strengthen a friendship and it draws us to them.

5. Why young generation admires celebrities so much?

I haven’t really put too much thought into this, but generally, young people are attracted to celebrities for their fame, influence, lifestyle, talent and media presence. They love to follow their favourite celebrities, their styles and actions in their real-life. Besides, the performance of celebrities on the screen and other places are highly influential. Consequently, they fall in love with the celebrities and admire them very much.

6. What type of people are famous in your country? Why?

In my country, various types of people are famous and the list is indeed large. The list contains movie stars, singers, poets, writers, athletes, and in some cases politicians. But the list contains a great number of movie stars and singers while the number of politicians is the least in the list.
